Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Each May GCP holds an award ceremony at the closing meeting where awards are presented to members based on points and other achievements. Below are descriptions of those awards.

GCP Points Awards

These are awarded based on point accrued throughout the year except for the Conservation Award, which is given to someone who personally increased the Club’s awareness of and interest in conservation within a given year. Below is the system on how points are awarded. These points are accumulated throughout the year during GCP's various shows. The registrar records and tracks these points.

Points for GCP Show Awards

Best in Show 8 points

1st Prize (blue) 8 points

2nd Prize (red) 6 points

3rd Prize (yellow) 4 points

Honorable Mention 2 points

Exhibiting each entry 1 point

Horticulture Award

The Horticulture Award and accompanying charger is presented at the annual meeting to the member who accrues the most points in The Garden Club of Princeton Horticulture Shows during the year.

Species of The Year Award

The “Species of the Year” Award is presented to the member who accrues the most points in Floral Design, Horticulture and Photography classes that have been designated “Species of the Year”. The accompanying charger was donated by the Dresdner Family in memory of Kay Dresdner.

Provisional Award

The Provisional Award is presented to the Provisional Member who accrues the most points in Floral Design, Horticulture and Photography shows during

the year. The accompanying charger was donated by Frances Scott Rassmassler.

Floral Design Award

The Floral Design Award is presented at the annual meeting to the member who accrues the most points in The Garden Club of Princeton Floral Design Shows during the year. The accompanying charger was donated by Mary Pitcairn Keating.

Photography Award

The Photography Award certificate is presented to the member who accrues the most points in The Garden Club of Princeton annual Photography Show.

Other GCP Awards

These are GCP awards that are not based on points, but various achievements throughout the year.

Conservation Award

The Conservation Award is presented at the annual meeting to the member identified by the Conservation Chairs who has personally increased the Club’s awareness of and interest in conservation within a given year. The accompanying bowl was donated by Margaret Dulles Sebring.

The Penny Thomas Award

This is awarded to a GCP member who has shown excellence in creativity and technical expertise in photography

The Gnomey Award

The light-hearted Gnomey embodies generosity of spirit, enthusiastic participation and significant contribution to the GCP community. Gnomey embodies generosity of spirit, enthusiastic participation and significant contribution to the GCP community. The tradition was started and the accompanying figure was donated by Gillian Reeder.
